The Enrichment Cooperative

Bryant Campus From Principal Dana: A new workshop this year at TEC is the Young Ladies and Gentlemen Etiquette class. The students are learning how to introduce themselves, look another person in the eye, and meet them with an appropriate greeting and a firm handshake. What a treat it has been to meet, listen, respond to, and observe these fine young people as they take on such a respectful presence and assert themselves in this manner. This etiquette lesson is spreading across classes with the Advisory groups intentionally practicing etiquette, as well. A noticeable increase in positive attitudes has emerged among the young people who are immersed in learning these social skills.

skills. These feelings fuel resilience, broaden our thinking, breakdown racial barriers, and improve overall performance. Recently, I finished reading a great book, How Full is Your Bucket? This quick read is filled with discoveries, powerful strategies and engaging stories about the lasting impact of finding the positives and "filling buckets" by focusing on what is right in your world. The five strategies - prevent bucket dipping, shine a light on what is right, make best friends, give unexpectedly, and reverse the golden rule - are practical ways to build lasting positive relationships. Visit www.bucketbook.com for more information. In the meantime, when you are at TEC, introduce yourself to one of our fine students, parents or staff members, and fill their buckets with positive and optimistic interactions. It will enrich your life and the lives of others around you!
